The International Symposium on Sustainable Tourism Development is an eco-friendly zero-waste, zero-carbon event accompanied by compensatory measures. The three sections of this program, offered by the Centre des congrès de Québec, will make it possible to reduce the Symposium's environmental footprint through concrete gestures and compensatory measures.
Zero waste : activities are being planned and carried out that minimize the burial of waste, reduce consumption at the source, and reclaim residual materials.
Zero carbon : activities seek to limit greenhouse gas emissions.
Compensatory measures : compensatory measures are being undertaken in respect of unavoidable greenhouse gases. Below are the measures that have been adopted :
Assessment of our performance
A qualified eco-advisor will subsequently draft a report to take stock of our performance in respect of the management of residual materials, the attendant benefits and other relevant indicators. An attestation will then be issued confirming that the organization of the Symposium warrants the “eco-friendly event” rating.
The ministère du Tourisme du Québec, which is organizing the Symposium, is fostering this new synergy through the efficient management of waste and is thus contributing in its way to environmental protection. The department is pleased to participate in the “eco-friendly event” program of the Centre des congrès de Québec by incorporating these three sections into its planning, a noteworthy first.
