Iceland expects to draw three million tourists a year by 2020

With the number of visitors set to jump 23% this year and the government working hard to build the necessary infrastructure to accommodate them, Iceland is anticipating a boom in its tourism industry over the next few years. Tourism is making a significant contribution to the country's economic recovery; its share in the GDP rose 55% from 2009 through 2013. With a population of just 320,000 people, Iceland expects to host as many as three million tourists a year by 2020.
