Finnish Lapland: Santa Claus Office saved from bankruptcy

The Santa Claus Office was saved from bankruptcy last August. Legal proceedings were initiated in July against Diandoria, the company behind the Rovaniemi-based business, due to an outstanding tax debt of 200,000 euros. In late August, however, Lapland Safaris Group announced that it had bought up a majority of Diandoria shares and paid the back taxes. Business in Finnish Lapland has suffered a recent decline, partly due to a decrease in Russian tourists.
