Sweden's ICEHOTEL to open year-round

The world-famous ICEHOTEL, which has been rebuilt every winter only to melt away in the spring for the past 26 years, is about to undergo big changes. Located in Jukkasjärvi, 200 km north of the Arctic Circle, the establishment will be expanded to include a permanent structure that will remain open 365 days a year. The 1,200-m2 addition will include 20 suites, a bar and an art gallery, and will run on solar power. The new structure's design will mirror that of the iconic ICEHOTEL. Among other things, the expanded facility will allow visitors to experience the midnight sun during the summer months. The new section is expected to open in December 2016.
