Icelandair focusing on Antarctica

Icelandic is one of the first airlines to land a large, commercial aircraft in Antarctica. At the request of U.S. carrier Antarctic Logistics & Expeditions (ALE), one of the Icelandair subsidiary's B757s made the three-hour flight in November, to see whether commercial planes could land at Union Glacier. Each year, ALE uses less comfortable, passenger/cargo planes to transport some 500 tourists to Antarctica.
